Frequently Asked Questions about Trench and Excavation Safety OSHA Training Classes

What classes are available?

  • Our detailed listing of on-site training programs are available here

Are your classes available in person or virtual?

  • Most of our classes are available either virtually or on-site. Our Train-the-Trainer classes and our OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 classes must be completed in person.

What is the cost for training?

  • Very Reasonable! There is no more effective and cost-effective way to train your people. Each program is priced separately. The cost for each class varies and is also dependent on our trainers' travel costs.

Is there a guarantee?

  • Yes!  After attending the class your people will understand the standard better and will better assure safety on the jobsite or your training fee will be refunded.

What must I provide on the day of training?

  • Simply put, all we need is a place to conduct the training program, a screen or white wall for projecting the PowerPoint material, and a flip chart or chalk board for addressing audience questions. We can make nearly any area work for training but it is best to host our program in an area that is free from excessive distractions, employee traffic and outside noise.

  • Refreshments, and/or lunch if you wish to provide them.

What does Trench Safety Training provide?

  • Professional reference manuals and/or materials will be provided for each person attending training.

  • A projector and audio equipment, our PowerPoint training program, and when applicable soil samples and soil testing equipment, along with additional support materials.

  • A professional instructor with at least 15 - 30 years experience in the standards and the industry.

Will those attending the training receive a Certificate or Completion Card?

  • Yes. Trench Safety Training will present a laminated completion card and/or a certificate of completion suitable for framing to each person attending (depending on the class). For the OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 hour programs, Trench Safety Training will apply for the OHSA certification card for each person attending the training. There is a small additional cost for those desiring a certificate. (Please note that cards and certificates only indicate that training has been provided. The designation of competence for the duties of a "competent person" within the meaning of the OSHA standard remains the responsibility of the employer.)

What are the differences between Trench Safety Training programs and that of other training providers?

  • Our trainer, Wendell Wood, is the only current CPT instructor who was active in the development of the OSHA standard and can provide beneficial background into the rationale for the principals, terminology, and even compromises that were made to finalize the Standard. With over 30 years of experience and decades as a trainer, Wendell Wood knows the most important areas to cover and has the relevant stories and ancedotes to keep the classes interesting to all in attendance.

  • Many companies do training as part of a sales presentation for their equipment or services. Trench Safety Training focuses solely on unbiased training. We are not trying to sell you anything and can in fact give wise advice in choosing options for purchasing vs renting equipment, etc.

Why on-site training versus online training?

  • All our training classes focus on insuring compliance with OSHA requirements and increased productivity through the safe use of equipment by your personnel, and confidence that your company and years of investment are protected.

  • In some cases, online training cannot provide the same level of give and take, customization, and specific application to your business that can be given with an on-site program.

Contact Wendell Wood at Trench Safety Training for the expert training programs and excavation related services your company needs.
